Dr. Richard Murray Coe - Charlotte-Based Veterinarian

Dr. Richard Murray Coe co-founded Charlotte, North Carolina’s Animal Medical Hospital and Urgent Care in 1983 alongside his wife, Dr. Susan Coe. They initially refurbished a residence on Monroe Road and converted the space into the Animal Medical Hospital, but within a few years the practice had outgrown the location, at which point Dr. Richard Coe and his wife commissioned a more comprehensive overhaul of the property. The 25,000-square-foot facility has received recognition such as Hospital of the Year from Veterinary Economics Magazine.

As a leader of Animal Medical Hospital and Urgent Care, Dr. Richard Coe oversees a range of veterinary care services. The facility is outfitted with an in-house laboratory as well as a pharmacy, in addition to specialty rooms for radiology, ultrasound, and endoscopy.

Dr. Coe received his doctor of veterinary medicine from Alabama’s Auburn University. In addition to his work as a leader with Animal Medical Hospital and Urgent Care in Charlotte, he serves on the board of the Mike Thomas Family Veterinary Practice Institute. The practice supports veterinary training at Auburn University and collaborates with numerous animal rescue organizations.
